Calvados

Super black stallion by Concorde x Ramiro Z x Lucky Boy. This horse is a full brother to International Horse "Olaf"!

CALVADOS has the same fantastic pedigree that has already produced his full brother, Olaf, ranked in the top 50 showjumpers in 2008.  Their sire ~ Concorde ~  2004 KWPN Horse of the Year has already produced 100 progeny competing at 1.40-1.60m level worldwide, including Marius Claudius.imageConcorde, ridden by Eric van der Vleuten and Jos Lansink, has his own formidable performance record. Winner and placed in Grand Prix competitions, from Aachen to Helsinki, Rotterdam to Gothenburg, he has proved to be an equally successful global sire. Consistently placed in the United States Equestrian Federation jumper sire rankings, his progeny won $200,000 prizemoney on the American circuit in 2002 alone.imageConcorde has also strongly featured in the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horse show jumping sire ranking, finishing fourth in 2008 while his sire, Voltaire, was in twelfth position
The famous Hanoverian sire, Voltaire, struck gold producing Concorde from his first crop of foals and quickly established himself as a ‘sire of sires’ with over 50 Approved sires to date. Other successful sons of this Berlin Grand Prix winner include Kannan and Vechta while one of the leading American show hunter sires, Popeye K, is yet another of his winners.
Voltaire descends from the revolutionary Furioso II and Gotthard lines and also traces back to the Precipitation and Bay Ronald, two of the most dominant Thoroughbred influences in the history of the modern show jumper.
Concorde’s damline traces back to the famous Trakehner, Marco Polo, who produced Pybalia, (Swiss Olympic team horse at Los Angeles), Irco Polo and Marius.Dam ~ Kora. CALVADOS’s damline is just as impressive.
Kora’s pedigree includes her sire, the ‘Stallion of the Century’ Ramiro Z. image
Ramiro Z sired the phenomenal Ratina Z, team gold and individual silver medallist at the Barcelona Olympics and team gold at Atlanta, four years later. He also produced Royal Bravour, (ranked 3rd in the 1998 world rankings) and is also the damsire of Montender and Butterfly Flip.Ramiro Z goes back to two more important influences in show jumping breeding history - the famous Anglo-Arab, Ramzes and through his damline to Cottage Son, who traces back to the ubiquitous Dark Ronald. Ramzes also features in the damline of Libero H (sire of Jessica Kuerten’s superstar, Libertina) and another world-class mare, Jan Tops’ Operetta la Silla.
Lucky Boy, the handsome Thoroughbred that proved to be an equally good sire and broodmare sire, appears in Calvados pedigree as well. Three of the Los Angeles show jumping contenders were by him - Medrano, The Freak and Van Gogh while he also produced Calypso, the 1982 World Cup winner and 1980 World Cup runner-up.Kora has already produced Calvado’s full brother - Olaf.
Just some of Olaf ‘s achievements with Leon Thijjsen, his Dutch Nation’s Cup team partner, include Grand Prix wins at Madrid (2006) and De Steeg (2008). The consistent pair have also placed in the top ten in Grand Prix competitions at the Horse of the Year Show, Olympia and the CN International at Spruce Meadows. Most recently, they have featured in the 2008/2009 World Cup qualifier series, finishing second and eighth in the Helsinki and s’Hertogenbosch rounds.Their winning form in recent years meant the combination ranked 59th in the 2006 WBFSH show jumping rankings and climbed to 43rd place in the 2008 rankings ahead of other top performers such as Flexible, Cornet Obolensky, Peppermill and Suncal Portofino. With such a world-class pedigree and a proven full-brother already performing at top-level show jumping, Calvados should make another exciting stallion prospect for HVL Stud.
